Let’s hear it for the girls

WOMEN cricketers could get their own competition in the new Pennine Cricket League.

Following the launch of the Women’s Super League, which starts in 2016, the PCL is doing its bit to get more girls into the game. If there is enough interest, fixtures could be organised and a league developed.

The PCL is an amalgamation of the Central Lancashire and Saddleworth and District Cricket Leagues, and was set up in response to the formation of the new Greater Manchester pyramid competition.

Glenn Kershaw of the PCL has confirmed the top division will be made up of eight CLL clubs and four from the SDCL.

He also revealed that the Lancashire Cricket Board has given its backing to the new two-division structure, which 24 clubs will play in from 2016.
