CLL CRICKET SATURDAY
HEYSIDE’S South African star Shadley van Schalkwyk was in terrific nick as the Little Hey Street side sunk Oldham in their Lake Garaga CLL Championship derby tussle.
Heyside took first knock and registered a colossal 366 for five score, with van Schalkwyk scoring 113, Jon Selby 84 and Nick Campbell 79.
Van Schalkwyk then took five wickets for 50 as Oldham were bowled out for 260.
Still unbeaten Crompton kept the pressure on divisional leaders Ashton with a 27-run victory at Milnrow.
Andy Yates scored 48 as Crompton batted first and scored 169.
The hosts were then reduced to 142 all out, with Denis Louis taking three for 24.
Ashton secured a comprehensive win at Werneth.
Bradley Woolley took four wickets for 32 as Werneth were skittle for just 83.
In reply, deputy pro Angelo Perera scored 43 not out as Ashton cruised home for the loss of just three wickets.
Elsewhere, Raheel Majeed’s 75 and Saif Ur Rehman’s five for 23 return helped Radcliffe to a 20-run victory against Elton.
Royton’s Sri Lankan pro Geeth Alwis was the star of the show as he helped his side to a relatively comfortable victory against Clifton in the Premiership.
The sun shone brightly at the Paddock as Carl Taylor and Alwis took three wickets apiece as they helped reduce Clifton to a miserable 89 all out.
In reply, Royton lost six wickets as they chased victory down, with Alwis’s 44 the top contribution.
Elsewhere in the top flight, Bobby Cross scored an excellent 96 to help his Heywood side to a routine 133-run win at home against Littleborough.
Walsden had Nick Barker’s 40 as the highlight in their 163 for eight total against Rochdale, who were all out for 117 in reply.
