Second spot within reach

A WIN against Walshaw Sports tomorrow would see Avro securing a hugely impressive runners-up spot in the FBT Manchester League Premier Division.
Rob Fuller’s men – who won the Gilgryst Cup on Monday (see Match of the Day) – have enjoyed a terrific late run this term, though they did lose their penultimate league fixture, 2-1 at Stockport Georgians.
That means only maximum points will do tomorrow if Avro are to leapfrog the hosts into second place in the standings.
Springhead wrapped up their top-flight campaign with a 4-2 home win against Hindsford.
In Division One, Uppermill rounded off their fixtures with a thumping 6-0 home win against Boothstown.
On target were Bobby Fulham (three), Mick Pine, Mike Brickhill and Gaz Buckley.
