BILLIARDS: OLDHAM teenager Aaron Davies has claimed the National Junior Billiards Tour title.
The 17-year-old Oldham College student - was recently crowned European junior pool champion - won all four legs of the country-wide circuit.
He compiled breaks of 75 and 51 en route to beating Matthew Lyon (Norfolk) 465-238 in the two-hour final in Stoke. Davies took up billiards five years ago and has a high break of 139.
The baize wizard has represented England at the three-ball game, and as well as starring at pool he competes on the EASB Premier Junior Snooker Tour.
“I’ve been playing snooker since I was young, and that has helped me become a good billiards player,” Davies said. “My dad has been a big help, as he takes me to all the tournaments.”
Davies is now preparing for a tilt at the World Junior Pool Championships at Blackpool’s Imperial Hotel next month.
