CROMPTON maintained their 100 per cent record in the Lake Garage CLL Championship with a 55-run win over Oldham in Sunday's derby at Glebe Street.

In a match reduced to 40 overs a side, Crompton took first guard and made 135 for eight, mainly thanks to professional Josh Tolley’s 55.

Oldham skipper Rashid Hussain took four for 40 and pro Aneeq Hassan three for 37. In reply, Oldham were skittled for a meagre 80, Hassan top-scorer on 28. Sami Ullah took four for 49 and Danny Taylor returned remarkable figures of three for none off four overs.

Heyside suffered an eight-wicket defeat at Middleton, for whom professional Ernest Kemm was in sparkling form. He claimed six for 32 in a Heyside total of 167 for eight and then hit an unbeaten 55 as the hosts reached their target for the loss of only two wickets.

Ben Holt (33), Scott Bloor (31 not out) and skipper Ryan Barnes (26) produced decent knocks for Heyside.

Werneth are still looking for their first win after losing heavily at Milnrow, who batted first and made 213 for eight, Max Power top scoring with 55.

In reply, Werneth limped to 115 for nine, home professional James Price bagging four for 22 and Aaron Brown three for 32.

Royton’s game at Heywood was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Heavy rain on Saturday rendered Heywood’s newly-laid square unfit for play 24 hours later. Heywood’s win at Rochdale was the only action on Saturday as the elements had their say.
