ALEX Martin and Berri Neil boasted 100 per cent shooting records in the final as Oldham Netball Club’s under-14s Kestrels team won the Chorley tournament.
The youngsters held their nerve under the net in an exciting 9-6 win over Asco to clinch the crown.
It was a fine effort from Oldham, who were missing several players because of injury.
They swept through the group stages with victories over LSA Black (15-4), Saddleworth (16-1) Trafford (16-1), Ribble (9-5) and Bury (15-0).
Ribble were Oldham’s opponents in the last four and, after a ding-dong battle, they emerged 10-8 winners after extra- time.
Oldham had another cause for celebration as Martin was named player of the tournament.
The Oldham club’s under-13s Falcons triumphed at the Chorley tournament for the third year in a row.
The Falcons, cruised through the group stage, with wins against Saddleworth, Bury, Leyland and Wigan.
Next up was a semi-final clash against Ribble Valley, who had won their group and looked tough - until the Falcons won 8-1.
That booked a final place against local rivals Tameside — who had earlier beaten Oldham 12-4 in the group stage.
The final was a gripping, high-tempo affair which went to extra-time after ending 6-6.
Oldham stepped it up and won 11-8.
