HAVING A BALL: close control from nine-year-old Max Godley.
OLDHAM Ladies Hockey Club are hoping to build on the success of their first coaching session for juniors.
Boys and girls, between the ages of eight and 13, converged on Failsworth School, Brierley Avenue, for expert training made fun.
They were put through their paces by Oldham coach Imran Ansari, who saw some great potential from the budding hockey players, many of whom hadn’t picked up a stick before.
Laurie Phethean, secretary of the Oldham club, said: “With the support and funding from Oldham Council we have been able to get this venture under way, and fortunately the weather was on our side for the first one.
“The sessions continue tomorrow evening and we would love for more youngsters to get involved.”
Training starts at 6.30pm, at a cost of £3 per session. For more details, visit oldhamladieshockey.org.uk/junior-training/
