Gee accepts his punishment

OLDHAM will go into their last two games of the League One season without vice-captain Sammy Gee.
The player will miss Swinton Lions at Whitebank and Oxford at Iffley Road after submitting an early guilty plea to the RFL for his grade C punching charge, following his dismissal at Newcastle.
The recommended suspension is two to three games: his early admission has meant an automatic two-match ban, the first red card of his 100-game career.
Said club chairman Chris Hamilton: “Given his record we were disappointed he got a grade C.
“We opted to take the two games so that, if we are fortunate to qualify for the promotion match, he will be available for that.”
Having won their last 11 games, Roughyeds will be in touching distance of finishing top of League One if they make it a club record 12 when Swinton, another form team, come here on September 6.
The final game, at Oxford, is on the following September 12.
The race to finish in the top two or top five, both for play-off purposes to determine which two clubs will win promotion, will produce a few twists and turns as clubs hit the last lap.
