Naylor – An ugly win will do

Oldham boss Scott Naylor admitted in the aftermath of his side’s nervy 33-30 win against Gloucester All Golds that when it comes to it, any win is a win, messy or not.
Roughyeds remain top of Kingstone Press League One with five wins from five games after a performance few will savour.
“We got two more points, so I’ll take that and move on,” said Naylor. “I’ve been in this game long enough to know that sometimes you don’t get what you deserve and sometimes you win when you are not the better side.
“But we’re still undefeated in the league and we’ll willingly accept another W in the league table column that matters the most.
“There were times when I thought their middle unit (forwards) were dominating the game. We were trying hard to get momentum, but they were hurting us down the middle. We couldn't seem to turn the tide. That’s why I changed things round a bit by pushing Josh Johnson from loose to back-row and introducing Liam Thompson off the bench.
“Fresh legs seemed to make a difference and we scored a crucial 12 points just before half-time.
“Gloucester were a credit to their coach and to their club. They ran hard, tackled hard and worked hard from first minute to last. Not many teams will come to Whitebank and score 30 points.”
