Brown agrees new deal

DEFENDER Connor Brown has agreed a new two-year contract with Athletic.
The 23-year-old full-back, who made 26 appearances last season, and nine during a loan spell at Carlisle, was offered a deal last week.
Manager Darren Kelly said: “I’m delighted Connor accepted. He’s a really important member of the team in terms of what I’m trying to create. I’m looking forward to working with him.
“He’s a player’s player; he’s all for the team. He’s got a lot of pace and power, and particularly with what I’m going to be trying to create, that’s a huge part of that.”
The Chronicle understands Athletic’s hopes of completing a deal for a new signing early next week have apparently receded.
But utility man David Mellor is heading out of the club: “It’s unfortunate, but I spoke to him and pointed out that if there’s anything I can do to help, he’s got my number,” said Kelly.
Adam Lockwood and George Elokobi are still mulling over their new contract offers. Decisions are expected early next week.
