MICAH Richards believes a good run of form in the Manchester City side can lead to a return to the senior England squad.
The former Athletic academy star has 12 caps to his name already, but Fabio Capello has made Glen Johnson a regular fixture at right back for the national side.
But a return to the fold has entered the defender's mind.
Speaking at the premiere of Blue Moon Rising, a film about City's 2009/10 season, Richards told the Oldham Evening Chronicle: "I know there has been a lot of talk about myself and England of late, which is nice.
"The main thing for me is playing well for Manchester City, giving 100 per cent and showing people what I can do.
"The players in the England squad at the moment deserve to be there so all I can do is work hard.
"If I have a good run at club level I will hopefully get a chance with England."
City face Blackburn Rovers at Eastlands tomorrow.
Wayne Rooney is in for a tough afternoon when Manchester United visit his old club Everton tomorrow lunchtime.
Already a hate figure at Goodison Park, Rooney can expect even more stick than usual following revelations about his private life.
