Churchill exhibition comes to Oldham

A TOURING Winston Churchill exhibition is coming to Oldham to mark the 50th anniversary of the former Prime Minister’s death.
The display, at Oldham Library on April 13, has been produced by Niels Bjerre from Copenhagen and looks at Churchill’s leadership during World War Two.
Oldham has long links with Churchill; it was his first Parliamentary constituency in 1900,
A visit to the Cabinet War Rooms in London in 1987 first gave Niels the spark to begin producing exhibitions. This latest photographic display is his third
The 49 year old said: “Like many other countries occupied by the Nazis during World War Two, we Danes see Winston Churchill as the saviour of the free world. It’s my wish, through these photographs, to show Churchill not only as a statesman but also as an exciting human being.
“The exhibition is meant to be an inspiration for people, while also giving the viewer an opportunity to find out something they didn’t know about him.”
The exhibition will run until May 9.
