Post office gun raid terror
Date published: 16 April 2012
AN elderly woman was tied up and threatened with a gun during a terrifying ordeal at an Oldham post office.
Two robbers fled with a large amount of cash after bursting through the back of Waterhead Post Office, off Huddersfield Road.
The armed raiders struck shortly after 8.15 on Thursday morning and confronted the 72-year-old owner who was alone.
They tied the woman’s hands together before looting the post office and fleeing in a getaway vehicle.
A member of staff found the victim a short time later and called police.
The owner was too upset to talk when approached by the Chronicle.
The offenders are both described as having Merseyside accents. Anyone with information should call officers on 0161-856 8951, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
