POLICE have released the CCTV image of a man wanted in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl with learning difficulties on a bus in Oldham.
The 19-year-old victim was already on the 83, which runs between Oldham and Manchester, when the attacker got on and sat next to her.
During the journey, he sexually assaulted her until another passenger saw the teenager visibly distressed and pulled the man away.
The girl got off the bus and made her way home.
He is black, of chubby build, about 5ft 4in tall and aged between 40 and 50-years-old. He has short black hair and was wearing a black leather jacket, a patterned shirt, jeans and black trainers.
Police are now appealing to anyone who recognises him to come forward.
Police Constable Sharon Harper said: “This man brazenly assaulted a young, vulnerable woman and he needs to be caught.
“We are continuing to support this woman as she comes to terms with what has happened, but the best reassurance we can offer her is to find this man and punish him for his actions.
“This incident shows the value of having CCTV on buses as we have been able to get a clear picture of the man we suspect is responsible for this assault. I would ask that people look at this picture and if they do recognise this man or have information about his whereabouts, please come forward.
“Predators like him deserve to be taken off our streets, so if you do know something or you think you recognise him, do call us.”
The alleged incident took place at around 9.40pm on May 25. Anyone with information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 0161-856 8975 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
Anyone who has been a victim of rape or sexual assault can contact GMP on 0161-872 5050 or 999 in an emergency.
