A 15-YEAR-OLD boy suffered eye injuries and could lose his front teeth following an unprovoked attack by three men.

Sean McBrien, a Year 10 pupil at Hulme Grammar School, was waiting for a bus outside the school at 4pm on Friday when the incident happened at the corner of Windsor Road and Chamber Road.

One of the men pounced on the teenager from behind and dragged him to the ground while the other two kicked his head.

The men, described as Asian and all believed to be in their early 20s, ran off after Sean’s friend, who had just left to get his own bus, ran back.

Sean was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital, where he received treatment for swelling to his right eye and bruising.

He also faces losing two of his front teeth as a result of the attack.

His mother, Leanne McBrien (34), of St George’s Square, Chadderton, said: “I’m shocked.

“One of the men went behind him, put his arm around Sean’s neck and threw him to the floor.

“They kicked him in the head for about 20 seconds.

“The damage they could have done doesn’t bear thinking about.

“Sean’s friend saw what happened before the three men ran off.

“Sean never saw his attackers and he doesn’t know why they picked on him.

“He had a mobile phone to his ear at the time but they never took it.

“The police said the reason for the attack could have been jealousy because Sean goes to a fee-paying school but we have no idea.

“It makes me feel worried as Sean’s 12-year-old sister goes to the same school.

“It could happen to anyone, even younger pupils.”

Police confirmed that inquiries are ongoing.

Paul Neeson, principal at Oldham Hulme Grammar School, said: “Pupils have been reminded to take care with regard to their personal safety.”
