Latics put their shirt on fans of the future

Date published: 02/11/2009

Youngsters from Crompton and Buckstones schools in Shaw were the first to receive the free shirts in a scheme to attract more families to Boundary Park.

The 25 pupils were the first of 500 seven-year-olds from across the borough who will be presented with shirts at home league games this season. They were led to the pitch at half-time, presented with their shirts, and led back to their seats by Latics mascot, Chaddy the Owl.

The game ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat for the home side.

Well done OAFC - credit to the club where it is due.

Great initiative. My son's school are doing this at the Exeter game. Although he is a Latics fan already (he had no choice in this matter) his United and City supporting mates are all excited about it - if we can just convert one of them......
