Date published: 12 October 2020

It’s already a hard time for parents, but the decision of where to send your child to secondary school is even more challenging in the current climate.

COVID-19 restrictions mean that The Oldham Academy North are taking their open day online for a virtual experience!

Prospective parents can enjoy their virtual open day from the comfort of their own home but not miss out on any of the vital information needed to make an informed decision about the best school for their child.

Applications for The Oldham Academy North close at the end of the month

On a usual open day, you’d be able to meet the teachers and feel the buzz of the environment around you. Although things will feel a little differently online, The Oldham Academy North have made an online platform designed to give you a taste of life at the academy.

You can meet the staff, hear from current students and peruse the prospectus.

Their fun virtual tour of the Academy takes you on a thorough exploration of the different departments and introduces you to the exciting subjects your child would be starting.

Mrs Hallam said:

"The decision you make about which high school to choose is one of great magnitude but I want to assure you that choosing The Oldham Academy North will be the right choice for you and your child.

"At The Oldham Academy North, we have extremely high expectations of all students who join us.

“We expect only the very best from everyone, including all of our staff because we know that having such expectations will lead to your success in future life."

This is a message echoed by Ofsted in their latest inspection (March 2020). They said:

“Pupils benefit from the high expectations of the new headteacher and others – they work with purpose and pace to secure pupil’ bright futures.

“Pupils have no doubt that these adults only want the best for them.

They added:

“Curriculum plans are well organised…they take account of pupils’ interests and backgrounds to help shape what pupils will learn about.

“This supports pupils to think hard about what they study.”
