Sheridan signs new Oldham deal

Brendan Sheridan, brother of the well-known Ryan, former Great Britain half-back and ex-assistant coach at Castleford Tigers and Warrington Wolves, has signed a one-year extension to his contract as assistant boss at new-look Oldham Rugby League Club.

Next year will be his fifth full season at Roughyeds, but the difference this time is that he won’t be a stand-alone No 2 but one of a team of three assistants in which he will work alongside new signings Jordan Turner and Joe Wardle, who will both play and coach.

Oldham, who have still to name a new head coach, are looking to cement a coaching structure to rival the best in Super League.

Said Sheridan: “I love this club and I have red and white blood running through my veins.

"The place is buzzing at the moment so hopefully we can gel together to take it forward.

"I hope to help Jordan and Joe to make sure their transition into coaching goes smoothly.”

Oldham have also signed 21-year-old Ben O’Keefe, a clever utility back from Rochdale Hornets.

Rochdale born and the son of former Hornets player Paul O’Keefe, Ben has also been at Wigan Warriors.

Meanwhile, Yorkshireman Jordan Paga has signed a new two-year deal to stay at Oldham RL until the end of 2025.

Aged 22, and a Huddersfield lad, Paga was the fans’ choice as last season‘s Oldham player of the year.
