Oldham Rugby League Club have signed former Saddleworth Rangers outside back Jack Johnson (27) on a two-year deal.
He is the club’s third capture from Newcastle Thunder, following those of prop Jay Chapelhow and second-row man Brad Gallagher.
Born in Audenshaw, Johnson was picked up from Saddleworth by Super League club Warrington Wolves, for whom he played 18 times before going on to play for Featherstone Rovers, Widnes Vikings and then Newcastle, for whom he scored 30 tries in 51 games during his three seasons in the North-East.
He said: “After speaking to Mike Ford and hearing his vision for the club, I’m very excited.
"There’s a lot of ambition and some good people at the club so it made my decision very easy.”
Managing director Ford and his chairman Bill Quinn now have 11 players on their ever-growing 2024 squad list, many of them having played in Super League.
