Martyn Ridyard, one of the most experienced players in Rugby League, has signed a new Oldham deal to stay with the Roughyeds in 2023.
The veteran half-back knows he is in the twilight of his long and illustrious career, but his decision to play on for at least another season, delighted coach Stu Littler and chairman Chris Hamilton.
Said Littler: "Riddy is a special player - and a special person.
"He's a winner, but he also shows a lot of humility.
"He has a desire to help others and that's the sign of a great player."
The former Leigh, Featherstone Rovers and Huddersfield Giants' goalkicking half-back, won a club special recognition award last season when he took his career points total to 2,500.
