Ben Holcroft becomes the Roughyeds' seventh new signing for the 2021 Betfred Championship season
Oldham Rugby League club has signed 19-year-old Wigan Warriors winger Ben Holcroft on a one-year deal.
He becomes the Roughyeds' seventh new signing for the 2021 Betfred Championship season as coach Matt Diskin builds his own squad after inheriting the group he had for this year's Covid-ruined 2020 campaign.
A product of Wigan amateurs Ince Rose Bridge, Holcroft played for the Warriors at scholarship, academy and reserves levels and scored a try in their 22-10 win against arch rivals St Helens in last year's Super League under-19s Grand Final at the DW Stadium.
Said Holcroft: "I loved my years at Wigan, but it was time for a new challenge and Oldham convinced me it was the place to start a new chapter in my rugby league career."
Of Diskin's seven new signings so far four are forwards - Luke Nelmes, Martyn Reilly, Tyler Dupree and Shaun Pick - and the other three are outside backs Ben Heaton, Tommy Brierley and Holcroft.
