Scrum-half Dave Hewitt has signed a new one-year contract in readiness for his fifth full season at Oldham.
The 24-year-old former St Helens half-back made his debut for the Roughyeds when he was 19 and he has amassed more than 300 points for the club in 101 appearances.
"He has a lethal left-foot step and we are working on his game so that he can make the most of it," said coach Matt Diskin.
Said Hewitt: "The Championship is a tough division but we might surprise one or two people next year. We've signed some good players and, at the very least, we'll be very competitive."
