Oldham Athletic managed to get a draw against Leyton Orient on Saturday, with the final score 1 - 1.
Jordan Maguire-Drew's first-half equaliser denied the Latics a win.
Oldham, who entered the contest a point and a place adrift of Orient in 20th, enjoyed the perfect start.
Livewire on-loan winger Jonny Smith nodded the ball in behind the visiting defence in the second minute, racing into the penalty area before composing himself to calmly slot the ball into the bottom-right corner of Sam Sargeant's net to claim his fifth goal of the season.
In the second half, as the hosts pressed for a winner, Oldham's debutant midfielder David Jones forced Sargeant into a sharp low save to his right.
Home substitute Filipe Morais flashed a shot narrowly wide and in the 88th minute, Jones was unlucky to see his 20-yard free-kick cannon off the far post the post as Orient clung on.
