Born in Oldham in 1933, passed away peacefully on Monday, 16 August 2021, aged 87.
A civil engineer and former Managing Director of construction firm Dew Group Limited, George built a successful career in the UK and internationally, including Tonga, Mauritius and Dubai. He was instrumental in maintaining good relations between the UK and Tonga. Notably, in 1981, he arranged for the King of Tonga to visit Oldham.
George was the much-loved husband of Irene and the father of Wendy and late son Clive. He was a loving grandad to Matthew, Jenny, Stuart, Edward and Katie. George was loved and respected throughout his life and will be greatly missed by all.
