Asda's 'festive finders' are on hand to help with your 'big shop'

Date published: 20 December 2018

Asda superstores across the country have enlisted extra colleague champions to take on the role of ‘festive finder’ and help customers bag all the crucial items for the Christmas ‘big shop’ in the countdown to the most important ‘foodie’ day of the year.

The champions will be in stores for the busiest shopping days from tomorrow (Friday) to Christmas Eve and will stand apart from the crowd in specialist uniforms that consist of ‘Bringing Christmas Home’ t-shirts, emblazoned with ‘Here to Help’; so as not to be confused with their colleagues in traditional Asda green.

After research unearthed 30% of Brits will forget something crucial from the Christmas food shop, the ‘festive finders’ have all had training on where to locate the most forgotten items, so they can swiftly point customers in the right direction.

The list of items that these colleagues will be checking twice, consists of the things customers tend to forget the most such as tin foil, cocktail sticks, batteries, gravy and key vegetables.

These additional colleagues will be dedicated solely to helping customers during the final few days running up to Christmas Eve, especially as the retailer expects to sell over 4million heads of broccoli, 3.5million kilos of carrots and over 1million kilos of parsnips and sprouts.

Approximately 400,000 Asda turkeys will be tucked into this Christmas and come the end of the year, 900,000 Christmas sandwiches and 56million mince pies will have been devoured.

Vicky Markham, senior manager for retail service at Asda, said: “We’re putting festive finders into our larger stores to help customers ensure they don’t forget any key ingredients for the most important meal of the year.

"They’re also on hand to help locate products customers are struggling to find on the shop floor.

“Customers tell us there is nothing more frustrating than getting home to realise you’ve forgotten something, so these dedicated customer champions will be on hand to ensure that nothing is missed whether it’s tinfoil to turkey or crackers to cranberry.”
