Max Force pair celebrate medal glory at European Championships

Two students from Max Force Muay Thai in Lees enjoyed medal success at the WMO European Championships in Frosinone, Italy.

Miley Bagshaw, who is 13 years old, won the 11-13yrs amateur female Cadet 63.5kg category and is now the European gold medalist after beating an opponent from Wales in the final.

Miley was very dominant in the fight, giving her opponent two standing eights counts as she won unanimously.

Reacting jointly, gym head coaches Shaunna 0ratt and Bradley Tunnacliffe said: "We are immensely proud of Miley as all the hard work in the gym paid off.

"All the extra training sessions she did with us showed in the final fight.

"Miley's record now reads four wins and one draw so she is still undefeated."

Daniel Dissington came away with bronze in the pro am 67kg male category.

Unfortunately Daniel lost his semi-final against Italy but the decision was wrongly announced and in actual fact it was the local lad who was the worthy winner.

However, regardless of the decision Daniel fought hard and won the support of all the crowd and many other countries in attendance at the event.

Daniel is currently the IMTF area champion and next year he hopes to add the gold to his ever-growing accolades

Shaunna and Bradley added: "We are proud of both our students who attended this event and hopefully next year again we can attend with a bigger squad."

Classes at Max Force take place on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays in Lees, on Owen Fold.
