Improving Ethan takes Flight again

Date published: 11 September 2023

A total of eight boxers from the Isaan Muay Thai training centre in Oldham have been in competitive action recently.

Isaan had six boxers fighting at the Junior Novice Open at Kearsley Muay Thai.

The local outfit walked away boasting six brilliant performances and five new novice open champions.

Next up in Newcastle, on a Love2fight promotion, Isaan had Ethan Flight in action, as well as JJ Taylor.

First up, JJ, who is 15 and from New Moston, was up against the talented Lewis Brown.

In a wicked junior bout, it was action from the first bell.

Lewis started at a fast pace and JJ was scoring well with body kicks, but Lewis started to pull away towards the end of round three.

It was a great fight, with Lewis getting the well-deserved win in the end, though the Isaan contingent were really proud of JJ in only his sixth fight.

There is lots to work to do, moving forward.

Ethan, who is 18 and from Derker, put on a clinch master class against the excellent Sam Grey from Toe2Toe.

Sam's movement was really good, but Ethan just closed the distance and scored well with his knees to take a well-deserved win.

Isaan head coacj Steve Donnelly said: "It’s the best I’ve seen Ethan fight.

"He is improving with every fight.

"We have been rebuilding our junior team and we now have a number of new novice champions.

"Success is clearly breeding success at our gym."
