Oldham car and van dealership celebrates its first anniversary

After their acquisition of the Oldham Volkswagen retailer from Inchcape in October 2020, Swansway Motor Group embarked on the journey towards a brand new site in Oldham. 

The £11m development, operated by Swansway Motor Group, saw the motor group extend their Volkswagen van centre offering to five in total, while enhancing their passenger cars offering.

Opening the doors 12 months ago, the Chadderton Way-based retailer has now extended its offering to include rent-a-car, a car and van rental service.

With 66 team members, the retailer has had a number of success stories over the past 12 months, including recent accreditations for eight members of staff - Darren Dean, David Travis, Farhaan Mahmood, Gary Croad, Lee Pickering, Luke Brazil, Paul Morton and Tony Tyrer - who have all taken the time to further their knowledge of the Volkswagen brand.

Darren, who recently completed his Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Service Technician Accreditation, said: “It’s an amazing team here, we’re all pulling in the same direction, and it’s made even better by how great the facility is.”

Swansway Motor Group have also endeavoured to celebrate team members around the business, including Oldham Volkswagen Digital Merchandiser Dylan Clarke, whose photography (above) has been used around the new dealership.

“I just feel really proud that I come to work every day and see my photographs up on the walls," said Dylan.

"It’s a really nice feeling and I have received such positive feedback from the team around me.”

Swansway Motor Group Director John Smyth said: “In September, Swansway Motor Group celebrated its 20th anniversary; it’s exciting to be launching new projects and to celebrate the anniversary too.

"It’s been a great 12 months at the new site and long may that sentiment continue.”
