Oldham has been revealed as one of the best places for freelance and remote workers to live, according to a new study.

The town finished second on the list, only beneath Stockport.

Manchester came third, completing a Greater Manchester top three, with Carlisle and Worcester finishing off the top five.

It's based on a number of factors for creative professionals - including salary, lifestyle factors and affordability.

It's been noted in the study that workers in Oldham have some of the best access to networking meet-ups and solo working spaces.

If coffee shop working is the preference of Oldham freelancers they won't be struggling to find a good spot to work with 193 shops per capita, the highest ratio in the UK.

Those working in Oldham spend an estimated £1,560 per person each year on office space, with the10-mile distance from Manchester translating to a saving of around £78.

The data comes from a study by Pooky.
