The BIG Taster Programme staged a celebration evening at Wayra, above Hack in central Oldham, to mark the end of a first start up programme for young entrepreneurs.

BIG (Business Incubator Group) is one of the UK’s first youth focused accelerators in the UK aimed at building entrepreneurial skills among young people.

Whether a young person wants to set up a business or work in a business, BIG is there to help.

The first Taster programme took 10 young people both with big ideas and high aspirations for their careers and took them through a series of challenges and workshops aimed at building skills to prepare them for the world of business.

Some of the workshops focused on personal development, business planning, creating an MVP and digital marketing.

There were some impressive pitches form Oldham’s young entrepreneurs and tasks from sponsors, who included the Oldham Enterprise Trust, Wayra UK and North Lancs Training Group.

The BIG Taster Programme is a dynamic, fast track three-week support programme, created by the Business Incubator Group that helps young entrepreneurs and startups to learn new skills and overcome barriers that prevent them from securing growth or getting their idea off the ground.

The Business Incubator Group, meanwhile, is a pre-start up group for young entrepreneurs and start-ups who seek guidance, support, and information on how to grow their businesses.

It is mainly based in the North West, with an office located in Oldham at 38-44 Yorkshire Street.

The incubator helps to foster entrepreneurship and serves start-up businesses with mentoring, workshops, flexible space, access to a network of resources, and other business services designed to accelerate their success, and create jobs and revenue for the region.

BIG is leading the effort to create a business incubator to foster entrepreneurship in the community, and enhance learning, internships, and job opportunities for young people.

Business incubators accelerate the successful development of entrepreneurial companies by providing an array of business support resources and services.
