Call out for talent as auditions set to be held for Oldham Pride

Date published: 24 March 2024

Following the success of hosting auditions for the popular ITV show ‘The Voice’ in August last year, Billingtons Oldham will once again be looking to discover local talent, this time for Oldham Pride 2024.

Billingtons Oldham, with its ballroom, event space and cocktail bar/coffee lounge, is set to hold auditions on June 8 for artists and performers - singers, musicians, dancers of all genres.

The successful performers chosen at the audition will have the opportunity to perform on the stage at Oldham’s magnificent Queen Elizabeth Hall as Oldham Pride celebrate their 20th Anniversary on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

Kris Zemlik opened Billingtons Oldham in November 2022, a year after purchasing the property on Ascroft Street in the heart of Oldham.

In 2023, he was bestowed with the Special Recognition Award by Oldham Business Awards for his restoration of the iconic building, once known as Billingtons Dance Academy.

Since his support and involvement with the Oldham Pride Committee, he has worked to make the venue a designated ‘Safe Space’.

Now, Billingtons opens its doors, once a month, to anyone in the community who feels they need someone to talk to with regards to issues surrounding their sexuality.

Kris said: “Pride is an important event in our town, and I enjoy being part of it.

"My vision is for Billingtons to be at the heart of this and future events and the talent show audition is something that we can do to help make this year's Pride truly memorable, especially as this is Oldham Pride’s 20th anniversary.

"It’s important that everyone feels that Oldham Pride is for them, it’s about inclusivity and bringing the whole community together to celebrate our differences.

"Everyone and anyone is welcome to audition, it’s going to be a great event."
