Oldham Academy North students attend ECO Reds launch at iconic Old Trafford stadium

Date published: 27 November 2023

Four lucky students from E-ACT The Oldham Academy North (TOAN) attended the first-ever Eco Reds launch at the Old Trafford football stadium.

Adidas and Manchester University ran some workshops at the launch and they talked to the young people about all the different ways that schools can help to improve the environment.

The students will now act as Eco Leaders in the school and will be completing a variety of tasks related to their role.

Their Eco Club runs every Tuesday at the school and those attending talk about ways to help the environment and are creating an action plan.

They are also creating posters to help raise awareness of ecological and environmental issues that they will place around the school site.

Jessica Giraud, Headteacher at E-ACT The Oldham Academy North, said: “I am delighted that members of our Eco Club got to visit Old Trafford and take part in these workshops.

"They are doing a brilliant job of helping to inform the school community about the importance of protecting the environment and I am so proud of them for everything they do.”

Tom Campbell, CEO of E-ACT, said: “It’s brilliant to hear that members of TOAN’s Eco Club have been out and about learning more about their interest in the environment.

"I want to say a big thank you to everyone who came along from Adidas and Manchester University to put on these invaluable workshops.”
