Dedicated David celebrates 20 years at Aldi

Date published: 25 October 2023

An Aldi colleague in Oldham is celebrating his work anniversary after 20 years with the business.

David Nield first joined the supermarket as an Assistant Store Manager at Aldi’s Ashton store in 2003, before being promoted to Store Manager after just two years in the role.

Working at several Aldi stores since then, he now works as a Store Manager at Aldi’s Chadderton store.

From taking part in charity events, including bake sales and Christmas raffles for Aldi’s dedicated charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, to supporting fellow colleagues, David is an integral part of Aldi’s Chadderton team.

A well-known face amongst colleagues and customers alike, David has seen Aldi continue to grow and invest in the community over the years - becoming the UK’s fourth largest supermarket last year.

David said: “The size of our store teams has grown exponentially since I first joined, going from 10 team members when I started at Ashton, to over 50 now.

"It has been brilliant to watch the business grow and be a part of it all as it continues to go from strength to strength.”

When asked what his proudest achievement was, David said: “My proudest achievement has been to see all my previous and current team members succeed, thrive and advance within the company.

"I am very grateful to all the colleagues I have met over the years – they have made my time at Aldi fly by!”

Ruth Doyle, Regional Managing Director at Aldi UK, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to all of our colleagues and take great pride in celebrating their achievements.

“Colleagues like David have played a key part in our growth and success, and I would like to thank him for his contributions.

“Our colleagues allow us to connect with wider communities and continue to provide the high-quality service that customers keep coming back for.”
