Date published: 18 October 2023

A Chadderton primary school cook has retired after more than three decades of dedicated service.

Pat Schofield has been the school cook at Corpus Christi primary school for the last 34 years.

She has made the school dinner for many generations of the families who currently attend the school.

She has a special gift of making themed dinners to support events in school.

These include World Book day, the King's Coronation and providing food at the school’s Christmas fair.

Each half term she prepared a special lunch for the parishioners and school community.

Pat's cheese and onion pie is legendary!

She retired this week at the ripe old age of 71.

She will be greatly missed by the children, staff, parents, grandparents, parishioners and the school community.

Mrs Williamson, headteacher at the school, said: “Mrs Schofield as been a wonderful part of the team here at Corpus Christi and has served many of the local community.

"She will be missed by all and we wish her a long and happy retirement.”

The children surprised Mrs Schofield with a special leaving assembly which was attended by parents, old friends and colleagues and the local community.
