The victim of a historical incident involving stab-victim Ahsan Khan says he has forgiven Mr Khan for his previous actions.

Mr Khan was brutally stabbed on Saturday morning on Cheviot Avenue in Coppice after a fight involving a small number of men.

It was subsequently revealed that in 2016, Ashan Khan was involved in the imprisonment and torture of a then 16-year-old boy.

In a statement issued today, the victim makes clear that he has moved on from the 2016 incident and has forgiven Mr Khan for his actions.  In the statement, he expressed concern at comments made about Mr Khan on public forums.

"His brutal death should not be downplayed as a result of that incident.  I myself have forgiven him, I would be very grateful if the public could do the same.

"I would now like to put an end to the articles that are re-surfacing and the comments that are being made.

"We should not forget that a life has been taken and we should allow his soul to rest in peace."

Police have charged a 20-year-old man in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Ahsad Khan.

Full Statement from Ahsad Khan's victim in 2016

On Saturday 15th February 2020, Mr Ahsan Khan was brutally stabbed in Coppice, Oldham and sadley passed away as a result of the attack.

I have been made aware of the articles that have been released by the press in connection with the incident that ook place in October 2016 between myself and Mr Ahsan Khan.

I am releasing this statement to inform the public and those concerned that I have completely forgiven Mr Ahsan Khan for his involvement in the incident that took place in 2016.  Although it was a very traumatic period for me, I am now trying to move past the events that took place.

I do not condone the articles that are being released in connection to the past incident and his brutal death should not be downplayed as a result of that incident.  I myself have forgiven him, I would be very grateful if the public could do the same.  The comments made towards Mr Ahsan Khan are not only hurtful but also very distressing for me and his family.

I would now like to put an end to the articles that are re-surfacing and the comments that are being made.

We should not forget that a life has been taken and we should allow his soul to rest in peace.
