Great British Olympic swimmer, Steve Parry, has exclusively revealed he's opening a new swimming centre for children in Oldham in early 2020.

Oldham is the second location for a swim! centre and has been specially selected, based upon the need for swimming lessons in the local area.

The first swim! centre was a huge success in Warrington, in October 2017. It's mission was to revolutionise swimming and change lives.

One in four children in the UK, are unable to swim by the time they go to secondary school.

Steve told us:"It's time to say goodbye to cold and wet changing rooms, too many children to a class and sharing the pool with adults.

"I'm excited that we are opening a new swim! centre for the sole purpose of teaching kids to swim in a place that they will love."

Steve Parry is one of Britain's greatest swimmers, with career highlights including winning the Bronze medal for the 200m Butterfly at the 2004 Athens Olympics.  He also set an Olympic record in the semi finals, impressively beating Michael Phelps - one of only four people to do so at the time.

After retiring from professional swimming, Parry went on to create Total Swimming Group and Total Gymnastics Group.

These businesses have over 30,000 children taking part every week.

Parry is also the Chair of the outdoor swimming and water safety programme Swim Safe. It teaches young people to have fun and stay safe when swimming outdoors.

swim! are offering all children a FREE swim! intro lesson before they book.  You can register an interest for swim! Oldham at www.swim.co.uk/venues/oldham
