A family from Oldham face a race against time their daughter was diagnosed with Scoliosis.
Dancing star, 12-year old Tilly, was diagnosed with Scoliosis (curvature of the spine) 18 months ago and X-rays clearly showed two visible curves in her spine- meaning a costly operation is needed.
On diagnosis, Tilly was already at the point of bracing and the braces used didn’t prevent the curvature from worsening.
The Oldham Evening Chronicle spoke to Tilly who said, “If I was on a break at dancing, my back would just ache, so I had to stop it.
“Whoever else has got Scoloisis don’t get upset about it because it’s all gonna be okay in the end.”
It’s understood that after Tilly visited London with her parents for a clinic consultation, she is now eligible for an operation that would cost £85,000 and it could be performed later this year.
There’s a high possibility the operation would allow Tilly to be flexible and dance again.
Tilly’s dad, Aaron Ziemniak said, “It’s very I’m gonna say heart-breaking, when you’ve got a child who is very active, very flexible and very outgoing and it’s when you see them change.
“If we were to leave it until next year, early next year, say January or February, she wouldn’t be able to have this particular surgery.”
