Oldham Hulme Grammar School Sixth Form students excel

Oldham Hulme Grammar School sixth form students have achieved another set of excellent A Level results this summer.

Over a third of grades achieved (36%) were at A*/A, and in total 61% of Hulme’s grades were at A*-B level; both these statistics rose by 3% this year.

Headteacher Craig Mairs said, "At the very top end, the results are superb: a third of the cohort achieved at least 2 A grades, 22% achieved at least 3 A grades, and 20% of the students secured at least 1 A*.

"The overall pass rate was 98%.

"There were a number of outstanding individual performances. "

Of their star performers this year, Bradley Thompson achieved 4 A* grades and secured a place at Magdalene College, Cambridge to read Natural Sciences.

Megan Brierley secured 3 A* grades, securing a plact at Nottingham, also to study Natural Sciences.

Both Eleanor Dawson and Lydia Entwistle achieved 2 A* and 1 A grades.

Eleanor accepted a place at Durham to read Psychology and Lydia will be studying Biology at York.

In addition, a further 7 Hulme students achieved 1xA* and 2 A grades.

Craig added, "At Hulme we believe in supporting all of our students to achieve their potential, whatever that is.

"The school is delighted with these impressive results, which are a reflection first and foremost of the efforts of our pupils, as well as the dedication of the staff at Hulme.

"Our Year 13 cohort can look forward to taking up the top university places they have secured, and the school wishes them every success for the future."
