Students celebrate nail-biting A level results day

Crompton House Sixth Form students are pleased with their results

Greater Manchester has seen a mixture of emotions this morning (Thursday 15th August) as students head to collect their A level results.

Across the UK, its understood that fewer students have been accepted onto degree courses this year, compared to last.

409,000 people from the UK and overseas had their places confirmed- which is down 1% from year.

UCAS admissions service says a record number of students from outside the EU (more than 33,000) will be coming to study in the UK.

There's also a 32% rise in those that will be arriving from China.

Karl Newell who is the headteacher at Crompton House Sixth Form in Shaw said, "We are absolutley delighted with our A level results this year, really proud of the achievements of all our students. 

"These grades are a result of the hard work and committment from staff, parents and most of all the students who have dedicated themselves to their studies this year. They really, truly deserve the fantastic results that they've achieved.

"I'm absolutely thrilled that so many of our students have succeeded in gaining places to their first choice of destination next year, whether it's university, a professional apprenticeship qualification or the work place."
