An award-winning Saddleworth travel consultant asks businesses to support her in walking a 75km in Colombia for the charity MIND.

Lorraine Robinson threw herself into her business as a travel consultant in the lead up to her mother’s death back in 2017.

Her mother died of Dementia at the age of 67 and spurred on from grief, this urged her so start her businesses as a travel consultant and participate in charity work.

The ‘Not Just Travel 2019’ charity trek is 75km through the Sierra Nevada Mountain in Colombia to reach The Lost City of Teyuna and will be in aid of the charity MIND, which was a support system through the loss of her parents.

Lorraine has set herself the goal of raising £7500 and is asking for 75 business to try and raise at least £75, as she hosts various events including a fashion show and race nights.

With just over 40 trekkers attending the walk on 1st October this year, Lorraine hopes it will be an amazing experience and wants staff to engage and talk about mental health.

Lorraine said, “MIND help people from all walks of life, so I am going to do the walk of my life to help them.

I lost both my parents and a few months ago I had their ashes mixed and a fantastic jeweler was able to make some earrings with them for me. A little bit of them will be with me all the way.

I travel a lot with my business and it’s nice to just feel like I am taking them along for the journey.

For a non-walker like myself, I really am starting from the beginning but that’s fine because it will make that moment when I reach the Lost City, all the more special.”
