RSPCA hunting man responsible for dumping starving dog in Royton

The RSPCA is looking for a man who dumped a starving dog in the Oldham area.

The animal was described as “terrified” and had not been fed properly in a long while, when he was found on Hall Street in Royton.

The dog has been described as skeletal – with his spine, hips and ribs all visible through his skin.

Locals saw the man responsible leave the dog before driving away in a BMW towards Middleton Road.

He was dressed in dark clothing.

The local dog warden found that the animal was called Winston and tracked down its last registered owner from its microchip.

But the woman told the RSPCA that she had sold the dog last November – and the charity has been unable to track down the current owner.

Inspector Jessica Arajo from the RSPCA said: “I am very keen to trace the last person responsible for keeping this poor dog.

“It is a really callous act to dump such a vulnerable dog in a dark street.

“He was terrified and very skinny and his hips, ribs and spine were clearly visible so had not been fed properly for some time.

“I am hoping someone will recognise this dog because he is so thin and he also has distinct white patch on his chest.

“I really need someone to identify his last owner.”
