Anna grabs Belles chance with both hands

RISING STAR . . . Anna Moorhouse played her junior football for Chaddy End and ROCS FC.
SHAW-raised Anna Moorhouse is hoping to make a big impact in Women’s Super League One when the new season gets under way in March.
Goalkeeper Moorhouse has been signed by newly-promoted Doncaster Belles boss Glen Harris following a successful stint with Durham Women. Moorhouse said the chance to sign for the Belles was one she couldn’t turn down. The 20-year-old student said: “It feels great to be signing for Belles. I had no idea they were interested so it came as a surprise.
“I want to improve both technically and physically and then if I’m given the opportunity to play, I’ll take it. I think it’s important for Belles to stay in FA WSL1 and get enough points to do that, but there’s also no reason why we can’t compete for trophies.”
Manager Harris said Moorhouse came highly recommended from a former title-winning boss.
The Belles chief spoke to ex-Liverpool and current Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard about the much sought-after ’keeper.
“Matt suggested we look at Anna while she was with Durham,” said Harris. “When she played against us, she was outstanding. We are really pleased to have her on board.”
Moorhouse began her football career with Chaddy End, before later switching to ROCS FC, with whom she stayed until being spotted by Manchester United at the age of 16.
She spent 12 months with the Reds before moving to Everton, where she stayed for two years before transferring to Durham.
The Belles already have an established number one ’keeper in Nicola Hobbs, but Moorhouse is hoping to get her first-team chance sooner rather than later.
