Dynamos set out in search of title repeat

A NEW Lancashire Amateur League season gets under way tomorrow, with Failsworth Dynamos beginning their defence of the Premier Division title when they travel to Roach Dynamos.

In Division Two, Chaddertonians go to Bolton Nomads.

The loss of two of its four sides has meant that Oldham Hulmeians have re-formed in Division Three after many seasons in the top two divisions.

Mark Hurst has taken over from Lee Hinxhliffe as first team manager, with Hulmeians at Radcliffe Town on September 2 in their first game of the campaign.

Four local sides begin their Huddersfield and District League fixtures on Tuesday.

Diggle start their Division One campaign in optimistic mood when they welcome Meltham Athletic to Churchill playing fields (6.15pm).

Manager Richard Devy said: "We always have aspirations of winning the title, but a lot depends on what sort of start we have. We have had a big influx of players which is good for us."

Newly-promoted Moorside, who have a new manager in Chris Beech following the departure of Lee Warburton, entertain Marsden at Compton Cricket Club in a Division Two clash (6.15pm,), while there is a local derby at Churchill playing fields as Uppermill host 3-D Dynamos (6.15pm).

Lancashire and Cheshire League season openers see Oldham Victoria away to Bury Amateurs tomorrow in Division One, while AFC Oldham 2005 entertain Spurley Hey at the Hathershaw 3G (2pm) a week later.

In Division Three, Santos begin their fixtures in September, while Chadderton Park begin their second season as an open-age side in Division 'A', also next month.
