Langtree lands new contract

DANNY LANGTREE . . . helped Oldham reserves reach the grand final last season.
OLDHAM RL Club have re-signed another of their own... and have offered deals to half a dozen newcomers.
Prop Danny Langtree is the latest member of last season’s squad to sign for another year.
The 21-year-old former Blackbrook and St Helens academy forward joins Neil Roden, Jamie Dallimore, Phil Joy and newcomer Josh Crowley on the 2013 roster. Club officials expect more signings next week.
Oldham coach Scott Naylor said: “We’ve been talking to five or six new players. We hope also to get more of last season’s squad back on contract pretty soon.
“Things are moving along nicely. I find it particularly encouraging to see young players like Joy and Langtree coming up through the reserves.
“At 21, they’ve everything ahead of them and we expect them to show what they're worth at the next level.”
Langtree has had two seasons in the reserves. He was given a senior chance in 2012 pre-season warm-up matches, but he had to be patient and wait until the end of last season for his next opportunity at the higher level. He played twice against Workington — and looked good each time.
“It’s up to me to push on now,” said Langtree. “This will be my third season at the club and my personal goal will be to get a lot more first-team appearances.”
